Special Board Meeting
A Special Meeting was held on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. regarding culvert installation, rock lifts and other necessary improvements to granite roads.
Chairperson Hoenisch called the Special Board meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Present were Town Board members Chairperson Betty Hoenisch, Supervisor Tad Schult, Supervisor Sue Shore and Public Works employees John Marquardt and Scott Cyzan.
The group traveled to Grove Drive to determine where to place a cross culvert . A rock lift to the entire road and ditching with tree removal was discussed. In spring Grove Drive will be checked to determine if drain tile is also needed.
The supervisors stopped to view the 6025 Rainbow Drive property that is vacant. The Town has received questions and complaints on that property. Discussion followed to have the road workers trim the trees and brush that are in the vision triangle.
The group traveled to Sandy Drive to meet with Doug Leopold regarding an alternate route for residents to use to access their homes when the County replaces the large culverts. The group walked thru a field that borders Faith Lutheran Church to view the proposed alternate route. Discussion follows to contact Faith Lutheran Church and Park Avenue Dairy to obtain permission to cross their land while the bridge / culvert work is being done.
The group traveled to Shoreline Drive to decide if ditching and a cross culvert would remedy some of the spring thaw flooding problems. It was determined that a mailbox needed to be moved to allow the road workers to wing the snow back off the ditch line. Suggestion was made to try this for the winter and check water situation in spring before installing a cross culvert. Chairperson Hoenisch will call the Merrill Post office and request that the Theilig’s mailbox be relocated to the north side of Shoreline Place.
The group traveled to N. 9th Avenue off of East Prehn Drive to decide how the water from spring thaw could be moved from the west side of N. 9th Avenue to the east side. Supervisor Schult suggested doing some ditching and placing a cross culvert. Supervisor Schult will talk to Tom Roberts regarding the placement of that culvert. Discussion followed regarding a rock lift for the road.
The group traveled to Naugart Circle. Chair Hoenisch explained the spring thaw issues and that part of Naugart Circle does not show on our map as a regular road. John Marquardt explained that when Howard’s House of Trees was selling Christmas trees the Town may have plowed Howard’s driveway. He said that because it connects to Naugart Circle people just continued to use it like a road. Discussion followed on the amount of road aids the Town receives and the possibility of placing a cul de sac at south of the Sooley property. Part of the road may be vacated with a ditch being created at N. 12th Avenue.
The supervisors stopped to view the 2820 Naugart Drive property. The Town has received questions and complaints on this property. The building setbacks were measured.
The group traveled back to the Town Hall.
Supervisor Shore made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 p.m., seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.
Respectively submitted and approved on October 8, 2007.
