The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Maine held a special meeting at Maine Fire Department on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.


AGENDA


1. Call the meeting to order – Tad Schult, Town Chairman

2. Town Board will meet with the fire department members to discuss fire department budget, audit implementation and officer positions.


3. Adjournment.

Special Board of Supervisor Meeting

The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Maine held a special meeting at Maine Fire Department on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Chairman Tad Schult called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Present were Chairman Tad Schult, Supervisor Wes Schoepke and Supervisor Keith Rusch. Also present were fire department members and officers.

This was a regular scheduled fire department drill night.

Chairman Tad Schult, Supervisor Wes Schoepke and Supervisor Keith Rusch attended the drill to meet with the fire department members regarding the changes that will be occurring on the department.

Department members had questions and comments regarding the resignation of the former chief, officer vacancies and order of succession. Comments were made regarding the resignation process and communication between the Town Board and the fire department as a whole. Some of the members voiced their opinion that due to former Chief Ohrmundt’s thirty four years of dedicated service he should have been retired rather than allowed to resign. Chairman Schult stated it was Chief Ohrmundt’s choice to resign because the Town Board wanted to move in a new direction.

Discussion followed on the audit process and the audit timeline.

Chairman Schult stated this is a wonderful department and the Town is grateful for the service they provide. The audit process was to protect the Town from liability issues. It was also a tool and opportunity to help the department grow and stay viable for the future. Communication is going to be a key element in the rebuilding process.

Chairman Schult explained the Town Board has met with the officers on budgeting and there are budget charts available for anyone interested in participating in the 2012 fire department budget process. There will also be meetings held regarding bylaw changes.

Chairman Schult stated “I am excited to be moving forward and for the future of this great department”.
