Minutes:
Chair Hoensich called the special meeting to order at 8 a.m.
Discussion with Bob Christensen the Building/Zoning Administrator took place. Mr. Christensen explained that he could hold office hours at the Town of Maine on a weekly basis, along with continuing holding zoning/building positions with several other municipalities. He assured the Board that he would have more time to address the issues the Town is involved in.
Chair Hoenisch asked for a comparison of what he’s earned from January 1, 2005 to present compared to being paid a fee by permit for the same time period to the salary he earns now.
Mr. Christensen explained the permit fee per zoning/building permit and the hourly fee he would charge for extra time charges, he replied $25-$35 per hour.
He feels the $21,000 wage for the zoning/building administrator is too high for the work load.
Mr. Christensen stated that he proposed four hours per week in the office and two hours before the monthly meeting. He stated that would be minimum.
Mr. Christensen stated that some issues that came up at the last meeting concerned him. If there are complaints, he would like to know about them. Mr. Christensen stated that the contract proposed reads that he will make a commitment; attending meetings and holding office hours. He suggested that he and the Board meet in six months to revaluate his work. He expressed to the Board that he will sign a contract with a wage of $18,000.00 for 2006.
October 29, 2005
Lester Krueger arrived for an interview for the Zoning/Building Administrator Position. The Board asked Mr. Krueger what salary he requests and Mr. Krueger responded $18,000.00 for 2006. He agreed to hold office hours two afternoons per week, to also attend the monthly meetings, and zoning enforcement as needed. Mr. Krueger also stated he would be willing to assist in the revising the Town’s Ordinances included in this wage.
Supervisor Zernicke made a motion to write a letter to terminate Bob Christensen’s contract as of December 31, 2005, seconded by Supervisor Wanke. Motion carried.
Supervisor Zernicke made a motion to hire Lester Krueger for $18,000.00 for 2006, seconded by Supervisor Wanke. Motion carried.
Chair Hoenish stated that certified letters will be sent to Mr. Christensen and Mr. Krueger by October 31, 2005 with the termination of Mr. Christensen and the contract for Mr. Krueger.
Supervisor Zernicke made a motion to adjourn at 9:35 a.m., seconded by Supervisor Wanke. Motion carried.
