NOTICE AND AGENDA OF BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING
The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Maine will hold a Budget Public Hearing in the Town Hall on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. on the
Proposed 2008 Budget.
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING OF THE ELECTORS
OF THE TOWN OF MAINE
The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Maine will hold a Special Town Meeting in the Town Hall immediately following the completion of the Budget Public Hearing.

I certify that notice of this Budget Public Hearing and Special Town Meeting were posted on or before November 9, 2007 at the Chapter Two Restaurant, Northside Citgo Gas Station, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt’s Bar and the Town Hall. Notice was also published in the Wausau Daily Herald on Saturday, November 24, 2007.

Budget Public Hearing
and
Special Town Meeting
The Budget Public Hearing and Special Town Meeting of the Electors of the Town of Maine was held on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 7:30 p.m.
Chair Hoenisch called the Budget Public Hearing to order at 7:32 p.m.
Chair Hoenisch welcomed everyone. She explained the proposed 2008 revenue and expense handouts. Chair Hoenisch also explained that the 2006 Tractor / Road project loan will be paid off in December 2007 and $100,000.00 of the 2007 road project $200,000.00 loan had been paid off. Chair Hoenisch stated that the only way for the Town to continue on its road re-construction plan would be to borrow in 2008 due to the State mandated tax levy again.
Ernst Soczka was present and asked why the Fire Department Public Safety expenditure line had been decreased from last year. Chair Hoenisch explained that the Town Board meets with Captain Bob Pound who is the Fire Department Treasurer. Mr. Pound works with the Town Board at their Budget Workshop Meeting. Mr. Pound recommends what is needed in the Fire Department to operate for the next year.
Chair Hoenisch then explained the tax rate printout to the audience. This chart shows the Town, County, State, NTC and Wausau Schools tax levy rates. She explained that the North Central Technical College had increased their levy by 6.53% and the Wausau School District had increased their tax levy by $172,000.00 which was a 10.27% increase from last year.
The Budget Public Hearing adjourn at 7:59 p.m.
Chair Hoenisch called the Special Town Meeting to order at 7:59 p.m.
Chair Hoenisch explained that the first item of business was for the electors to approve the 2008 Highway Expenditures of $838,810.00 pursuant to Section 82.03 (2) of Wisconsin State Statutes.
Motion by Wes Schoepke to approve the 2008 Highway Expenditures of $838,810.00, seconded by Kimberly Freund. Motion carried. There was one no heard from Mr. Soczka.
Chair Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was for the electors to adopt the 2007 Town Tax Levy of $627,617.72 to be paid in 2008 pursuant to Section 60.10 (1)(a) of Wisconsin State Statutes.
Motion by Judy Bayba to adopt the 2007 Town Tax Levy of $627,617.72 to be paid in 2008, seconded by Melissa Young. Motion carried unanimously.
Chair Hoenisch thanked everyone for attending.
Chair Hoenisch called for a motion to adjourn.
John Marquardt made a motion to adjourn at 8:19 p.m., seconded by Wes Schoepke. Motion carried.
