May 22, 2006 Type of meeting: Special
Minutes:
Chair Hoenisch called the special meeting to order at 2:33 p.m. Present were Supervisors Wanke and Zernicke, Chair Hoenisch, and Clerk, Kimberly Freund.
Bill Gruhlke, Regional Gas Engineer, from WI Public Service explained the proposed underground natural gas line. The gas line would run from Merrill Avenue to North 4th Avenue on Decator Drive.
Mr. Gruhlke stated that Public Service’s project last year, leg 1, went down 28th Avenue to Stewart Avenue. This project would tap into the gas line that crosses over the 3M property to Decator Drive from Brokaw and under the river. This 200 pound line will be a feeder line to the 80 pound existing gas line. The project will be done in stages. The River has to be bore, if the river bore is not successful the Decator Drive route will not be used. That bore go forward approximately June 5 and take about six weeks. Mr. Gruhlke introduced Tom Carlson who will be taking over his position when he relocates.
Chair Hoenisch stated that N. 14th Avenue will be under construction but shouldn’t interfere with this Public Service project.
Mr. Gruhlke asked about road crossings during project and which side of the road the construction should take place. It’s possible to run the gas line under the south side of the road and Public Service would restore the road as it is now. Decator Drive was blacktopped four years ago. The gravel shoulder would be restored also.
Mr. Gruhlke asked if the intersections could be open cut and restore the road as they have done previously. The Board said yes it could.
Mr. Gruhlke stated that the majority of the work will be done in the road.
Chair Hoenisch stated that all work for this project will be under one permit. The contractor will be named in the near future.
Homeowners on Decator Drive and surrounding areas will be notified when construction will begin. Signs will be posted during construction.
The culvert on Decator Drive near Hwy. K will be determined at the time of construction, the age and condition is not determined at this time.
Mr. Gruhlke stated the permit will be drawn up this week and submitted to the Town . Details will be submitted from Public Service as they arise.
