Minutes:
 
Chair Hoenisch called the Board of Supervisors meeting to order at 6:34p.m.  The Supervisors reviewed bills payable.
 
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
 
Chair Hoenisch asked the Supervisors for a motion to approve bill payables. Supervisor  Zernicke made a motion to accept the bills payable, seconded by Supervisor Wanke,  motion carried.
 
Clerk’s Report:
Clerk Kimberly Freund asked for a motion to approve February 12, 2007 and March 5, 2007 minutes.  Supervisor  Wanke made a motion to approve the minutes with corrections, seconded by Supervisor  Zernicke      motion carried. 
 
Chair Hoenisch: She reviewed the public hearings with Brokaw and the water main situation.  She will work on setting up a meeting time with Mayor Tipple. The Village of Brokaw stated they have already made a decision to attain the water main from the City of Wausau.
The Town is exempt from the DNR storm water permitting process; this is good news for the Town.
She also reported the zoning ordinance committee has received their binders with the draft proposed ordinances. Chair Hoenisch is proud of this committee and how hard they’ve worked to accomplish rewriting these ordinances to make them more user friendly.
 
Attorney Froker gave an update on the Roets case. There was an inspection in November 2006 on his land in the Town of Maine. The Town agreed to dismiss the case. There will be annual inspections by the Town of Maine Board and Inspectors on this property. The DNR has issues and will be handled separately by them.
 
Chair Hoenisch said North 9th Avenue is having complaints with the spring thaw. She suggested this resident come to Board meetings but this resident doesn’t time.
 
 
Supervisor  Wanke: He received  phone calls with the last snow storm and snow removal. The Town only has two trucks for 70 miles of roads and two workers. He feels the workers are doing a great job.
 
Supervisor Zernicke:  He received calls stating mailboxes have been hit with the plow trucks. The Town will replace the mailboxes. He’s received frozen culvert complaints. The workers are working on thawing them at the present time.  A sign on 14th and Cassidy is about to fall off. Supervisor Zernicke will contact the workers tomorrow and have it repaired. An inquiry asking Supervisor Zernicke when Grove Drive will be blacktopped was received..
 
Zoning/Building Report-Rich Grefe-He had an insulation inspection and a re-inspection and no new permits to date.
 
Treasurer, Marilyn Grunenwald reported these figures for February 2007:

Supervisor  Wanke  made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Supervisor  Zernicke,  motion carried.
 
Other Business:
 
A.      Discussion and possible action on the 28th Avenue Corridor.  The Town received an amendment to the resolution. The change is vacating a portion of land.
Supervisor Zernicke made a motion to approve the resolution amending the 28th Corridor, seconded by Supervisor Wanke, motion carried.
 
 
B.      Discussion and possible action on the VanderGeest Road Agreement. This was discussed at the Plan Commission meeting in February 2007. The Plan Commission recommended to the Board to approve the Road Agreement.
The board explanined the occupancy bond would not refunded until the road was brought up to finish grade. The road would be blacktopped in 2008. Supervisor  Zernicke made a motion to accept the road agreement with changes to #5 to allow Lee VanderGeest to begin construction and  to bring road to finish grade by July 2007  and #8 refers to completion by 12/2008 for the portion of the road and outlot, and # 13 which protects for sale of homes, seconded by Supervisor Wanke, motion carried.
 
C.  Discussion and possible action on the Town Emergency Plan-
Gaylene Rhoden would like to prepare an emergency plan for the Town of Maine to earn a credit at college. Supervisor  Wanke made a motion to approve Gaylen Rhoden to write an emergency plan free of charge for the Town of Maine, seconded by Supervisor Zernicke, motion carried.
 
D.  Discussion and possible action to publish road bids for granite,   asphalt, chipsealing, cracksealing, slagsealing and crushed road base. Supervisor Wanke made a motion to publish a road bid ad, Supervisor Zernicke seconded the motion, motion carried.  Supervisor Wanke suggested N. 14th Avenue be paved, Supervisor Zernicke recommended a rock lift.
 
 
E.    Discussion and possible action to appoint Joe Bozinski to the
position of Town of Maine Fire Department Third Lieutenant-
Supervisor  Wanke  made a motion to appoint Joe Bozinski as Third Lieutenant for the Town of Maine Fire Department, seconded by    Supervisor  Zernicke  motion carried.
 
John Ohrmundt stated Dennis Wald from the Wausau School District had hired an engineer a year ago to try to obtain water from the city of Wausau to the Town of Maine School. John Ohrmundt stated he thinks there is an engineer working on this water main at this time.

John Ohrmundt stated his son, Brett, was nominated for the position of  third lieutenant  and John Ohrmundt  recused himself .  He stated they had an outside party from a neighboring fire department to help make a decision. All applicants were asked the same questions. Joe Bozinski was recommended by the officers and also by John Ohrmundt.
 
Supervisor Zernicke made a motion to adjourn at  8:35 p.m.,              seconded by Supervisor  Wanke,  motion carried.
