Special Board of Supervisor Meeting
Chair Hoenisch called the special meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present were Chairperson Hoenisch, Supervisor Shore, Supervisor Schult and Clerk Tammi Walter.
The Supervisors reviewed some of the accounts payable bills.
The Town Board members present traveled to Brandenburg Avenue and Playground Place to meet with Public Works employees John Marquardt and Scott Cyzan and Ryan and Randy Christensen from RC Pavers.
The Town Board and Christensen’s discussed the Rainbow Drive, Brandenburg Avenue, Playground Place, Shoreline Drive and Shoreline Place paving projects.
The supervisors and public works employees explained the blending of new asphalt to existing road and a T intersection design at Shoreline Drive and Playground Place. Discussion followed on the width of the driving surface and crushed road base for Playground Place, Shoreline Drive and Shoreline Place.
The group traveled to Shoreline Drive and Shoreline Place to discuss intersection design, to keep vehicles from driving off the new culvert. The Board explained the width and length of paved area needed at the east end of Shoreline Place to create a turn around for the plow truck.
Chair Hoenisch asked the group to inspect the northern end of Brandenburg Avenue to determine whether the dip in the road can be filled in prior to paving. She explained that a Brandenburg Avenue resident requested that the dip be removed and another resident requested that the Brandenburg Avenue hill be cut down. Discussion followed and it was determined that neither wanted the excavation costs. The road is posted at 35 mph and vehicles are traveling at a much higher rate of speed and the speeding vehicles are the culprit, not the road design.
Supervisor Schult left to go to the hospital to welcome his new grandson.
Chair Hoenisch, Supervisor Shore and Clerk Walter traveled to the Town of Texas Town Hall to attend the Texas Board meeting due to the proposed corn drying facility conditional use request for a property that borders the Town of Maine.
Attorney Frokjer on behalf of the Town of Maine spoke to the Town of Texas Town Board. He explained that since the Wisconsin Rapids Grain LLC has withdrawn their conditional use permit application, the Town of Maine is asking the Town of Texas to consider rezoning the M-2 land along the Wisconsin River to a mining district to lessen any impact from future development.
After the Town of Texas Board Meeting, the residents, their Attorney Sarah Ruffi and Town Board members discussed the proposed corn drying facility and the possibility of the conditional use permit application being resubmitted at a later date.
Town Board members traveled back to the Town Hall where Supervisor Schult joined them for the rest of the accounts payable bill approval process.
Chair Hoenisch asked for a motion to approve the accounts payable bills.
Supervisor Shore made a motion to approve the bills, seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to adjourn at 10:00 p.m., seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Respectively submitted,
Tammi M. Walter
Town of Maine Clerk
