The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Maine will hold a regular monthly meeting at the Maine Town Hall on Monday, June 16, 2008. General Business will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A. Discussion and possible action on the McEvoy’s Road Agreement.

C. Discussion and possible action to approve Liquor, Amusement, Tobacco and Operator’s Licenses for The Mirage, Red Granite Bar, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt’s Ballroom / Bar and the Rib Mountain Bowmen.
D. Discussion and possible action to approve additional election inspectors for 2008 and 2009.
E. Discussion and possible action on the City of Wausau’s plan to reserve a four lane road corridor on Overlook Drive, north of County Road U to Merrill Avenue for proposed future development.

Minutes:

Chair Hoenisch called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Clerk Walter explained she has May 12th, 13th and June 9th, 2008 meeting minutes that will need to be approved. Chair Hoenisch asked the Supervisors to make a motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes and make any changes or corrections. No corrections were made. Supervisor Schult made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.

Chairperson’s report:

Chair Hoenisch reported that RC Pavers got the asphalt contract for the north end roads and American Asphalt got the asphalt contract for the south end roads. RC Pavers started paving today on Shoreline and Playground.

Chair Hoenisch explained that the Town will be entering into a maintenance agreement with 3M in exchange for allowing them to increase their weight from 80,000 lbs to 90,000 lbs. The Town will be doing borings on N. 4th Avenue to find out the amount of asphalt and road base on that road. The Town needs to determine the percentage of damage that 3M’s trucks do to that road. Chair Hoenisch explained the Town will be getting an estimate from Tetra Tech to help with the borings.

Chair Hoenisch explained that the dust buster was applied May 27th to alleviate the dust on the granite roads.

Chair Hoenisch explained that she helped the Humane Society catch a dog on East Prehn.

She explained that she attended the May 13th MPO meeting. Marv Anderson, Chairman of Stettin was appointed as Chair of MPO, which is good to have someone look out for the townships.

She explained that she attended a meeting with Donna Seidel and Attorney Frokjer on May 27th which was requested by Town residents. The meeting was regarding the proposed corn drying facility in Town of Texas.

Chair Hoenisch explained that she attended the May 13th Town of Texas Plan Commission Meeting and June 9th Town of Texas Board Meeting, along with Maine residents that live on the Wisconsin River and their attorney.

Chair Hoenisch explained that she and resident Judy Bayba attended the City of Wausau CISIM committee meeting on June 12th at City Hall.

Supervisor’s report:

Supervisor Shore reported that she had gotten a call about the dust buster. She called Chair Hoenisch and Chair Hoenisch said it’s on its way.

Supervisor Shore reported that she walked the land on Burek and it has hills of asphalt on this property. Supervisor Shore explained that there’s a family interested in this property, but wanted to know what the Town would do about this. Attorney Frokjer explained the Town doesn’t do anything, but the family could check with an excavating company.

Supervisor Shore reported that she spoke with a land owner on the edge of the Town, that when their ready to sell their land, they could come talk with the Town.

Supervisor Schult reported that he’s been working on some cross culverts on Rainbow Drive.

Supervisor Schult reported that he checked out McEvoy’s road and it looks great.

Supervisor Schult reported that some more ditching needs to be done on Brandenburg.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Marilyn Grunenwald reported on the Town’s bank accounts ending May 31, 2008:

Supervisor Shore made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried. Zoning Report for May 2008 – Zoning Administrator Rich Grefe was absent.

Other Business:

First item of business was discussion and possible action on the McEvoy’s Road Agreement.
Chair Hoenisch explained that the McEvoy’s purchased the Erdman’s west property with pond. The McEvoy’s had the land surveyed to bring the north land owners up to the new town road.

Chair Hoenisch explained that the McEvoy’s are working very well with the Town to create a superior road. The McEvoy’s installed culverts and built up the base to Town road specifications.
Tabled until July Meeting.

Discussion and possible action on the Rakow Road Agreement. Chair Hoenisch explained that the
Rakow’s have an accepted offer for the lot south of their driveway and east of County Road K.

She explained that the Rakow’s need to enter into a road agreement with the Town for the new road that will serve their Business Park area and the AG area east of County Road K. Discussion
followed about where the road will go.
Tabled until July Meeting.

Discussion and possible action to approve Liquor, Amusement, Tobacco and Operator’s Licenses for The Mirage, Red Granite Bar, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt’s Ballroom / Bar and the Rib Mountain Bowmen. This item sent the Chairman and Clerk on a background check for one of these bars before the meeting. Supervisor Schult made a motion to approve Red Granite Bar, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt’s Ballroom / Bar and the Rib Mountain Bowmen’s licenses and deny the Mirage the petition for transfer of licenses to Phillip Harter because of being a habitual offender under state statute 125.04(5)(b) and to approve Clerk Walter for approving operator licenses that come in throughout the year pending a satisfactory background check, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.

Discussion and possible action to approve additional election inspectors for 2008 and 2009. Chair
Hoenisch explained that at the last election, Bob Rogalla and Collette Brill offered to work at
future elections. Supervisor Shore made a motion to approve Bob Rogalla and Collette Brill as additional election inspectors for 2008 / 2009 elections, seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.

Discussion and possible action on the City of Wausau’s plan to reserve a four lane road corridor on Overlook Drive, north of County Road U to Merrill Avenue for proposed future development.
Discussion followed on City of Wausau’s future road plans that the Town has been made aware of.

Open discussion from the audience.

There was none.

Schedule the next Board of Supervisor Meeting for July 14, 2008 at 6:30 for bill approval and general business at 7:30 p.m.


Motion by Supervisor Shore to adjourn at 10:20 p.m., seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.
