7:00 p.m.
Chairman Utecht called the Special Plan Commission meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present were Ed Bohte, Kurt Rowe, Mark Stubbe, and Atty. Byll Hess.
Chairman Utecht stated that the first item on the agenda would be to work on Marathon County’s Pre-disaster Mitigation survey. Atty. Hess explained that Marathon County has elected to develop and submit a pre-disaster mitigation plan to Federal Emergency Management. The County needs to have an approved plan on file with FEMA so that when there is a disaster situation the community affected will be eligible to receive mitigation funding thru FEMA. Unincorporated communities will participate in the development of the plan, but will be considered under the umbrella of the countywide plan. The County received a Hazard Mitigation grant to complete the plan and this survey is to get input from the communities to help with the planning process.
Chairman Utecht stated that he had met with the Fire Department and they have given some suggestions for the plan. The Plan Commission completed the survey and Atty. Hess stated that he would type up the comments and suggestions and return the survey to Marathon County.
Chairman Utecht stated that the next item on the agenda was for the Plan Commission to work on the Conditions and Issues assignment from Marathon County’s Smart Growth consultants. The Plan Commission members discussed the Conditions and Issues handout and stated that the handout does not accurately define the activity in the Town of Maine for the elements listed. This item was tabled until the August 2nd Plan Commission meeting.
Chairman Utecht stated that the next item on the agenda was for the Plan Commission to work on the Town of Maine Overlay Map from Marathon County Smart Growth consultant. The Plan Commission read the projections for the Town of Maine in the handout and the only areas that were adequately defined were the business and park areas, which they outlined on the overlay map.
Kurt Rowe made a motion to adjourn at 8:45 p.m., seconded by Ed Bohte. Motion carried.
Respectively submitted,
Betty Hoenisch, clerk
