December 4, 2003
A Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors for the Town of Maine was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2003, in the Town Hall, 6111 North 44th Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401.
Agenda for this meeting was posted on November 26, 2003 at the Chapter Two Restaurant, Northside Citgo, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt’s Bar and the Town Hall.
Present were Chairman Utecht, Supervisors Duane Grunenwald and Marty Zernicke, Treasurer Marilyn Grunenwald and Clerk Betty Hoenisch.
Chairman Utecht called the meeting to order at 1:20 p.m.
Steve McLoed from Rural Insurance was present with a quote package for Board members. Mr. McLoed explained that Rural Insurance is the largest insurer of Towns and has received the Towns Association endorsement. Mr. McLoed explained the quote and there was discussion on the value of Fire Department building, some of the equipment and whether the Town should have higher deductibles. Chairman Utecht requested that Mr. McLoed give the Town a revised quote with the changes that were recommended by the Board.
Tom Ketchum from Laub and Horton was present with a quote from Prime Insurance Company. Mr. Ketchum explained that Prime Insurance has been writing policies for Towns and Fire Departments since 1973. Mr. Ketchum explained that the quote was with guaranteed replacement coverage, which will replace the buildings at the current rate. Mr. Ketchum also handed out a break out of the buildings, equipment and workers compensation coverage and discussion followed regarding the values listed. Mr. Ketchum reported that he had measured the buildings and the company had run the square footage replacement cost to arrive at the quotes listed. Mr. Ketchum expressed his concern regarding the Maine Lions Shelter liability issue and offered to meet with the Maine Lions and the Town regarding that issue should Laub and Horton be awarded the Towns Insurance package. Chairman Utecht requested that Mr. Ketchum give the Town a revised quote with higher deductibles and a change in some of the values.
Next meeting will be Friday, December 12, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the revised quotes.
Mr. Zernicke made a motion to adjourn at 3:35 p.m., seconded by Mr. Grunenwald. Motion carried.
