OFFICIAL NOTICE AND AGENDA
The Board of Supervisors of the Town of Maine will hold a special meeting at the Maine Town Hall on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
Agenda
1. Call meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. – Betty Hoenisch, Chairperson
2. Review accounts payable bills.
3. Discussion and possible action on Krall’s property tax inquiry related to rescinded or refunded taxes.
4. Discussion and possible action to approve year end accounts payable bills.
5. Discussion and possible action to approve EMS Captain’s annual wage.
6. Adjournment.

Special Board of Supervisor Meeting
A Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors was held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
Chairperson Hoenisch called the Special Board meeting to order.
Present were Chairperson Betty Hoenisch, Supervisor Tad Schult, Supervisor Sue Shore and Clerk Tammi Walter.
The Supervisors reviewed the year end bills.
First item of business was discussion and possible action on Krall’s property tax inquiry related to rescinded or refunded taxes. Chair Hoenisch explained the forms that Assessor Todd Anderson had faxed to the office. When the 2008 tax roll was created the Krall’s assessment value was accidentally increased by $100,000.00. To date it has not been determined how the mistake happened. Mr. Anderson said that the only way to correct the problem was to issue the Krall’s a revised tax bill and the Town would need to pay the balance of the taxes owed. This is the only way that the Town will be able to settle the tax roll correctly. Mr. Anderson will then complete the Dept. of Revenue inquiry form and the State will refund the Town in October 2009. Chair Hoenisch explained that to require the Krall’s to pay two years worth of taxes in 2008, would be a hardship for this retired couple. Supervisor Schult made a motion to have the Assessor continue with the State Inquiry related to the Krall’s assessment error, with the expense of the error to be paid by the Town until it is reimbursed in October 2009, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Next item on the agenda was discussion and possible action to approve the year end accounts payable bills. Supervisor Schult made a motion to approve the year end bills, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Next item on the agenda was discussion and possible action to approve the EMS Captain’s annual wage. Chair Hoenisch explained that for several years there has been a problem with the yearly salary paid to the EMS Captain. The Clerk has always paid the officers according to past policy. Chair Hoenisch explained the history regarding a call from Chief Ohrmundt and approval by former Town Supervisors for the Fire Department Captain’s salary and additional salary for office work and grants. In the past and again this year, Chair Hoenisch advised Captain Pound and EMS Captain Jim Sala to discuss this salary issue with the Fire Department Officers. Chair Hoenisch told Captain Pound and Captain Sala that by December 2009 there should be a revision to the Fire Department By Laws stating the officer’s salaries, or the Fire Department should present an Officer’s Salary Policy to the Town Board for approval. Supervisor Shore made a motion to approve EMS Captain Jim Sala’s annual officer’s salary at $450.00, seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.
Supervisor Shore made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:40 p.m., seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.
