The Town of Maine property owners were given the opportunity to inspect the 2003 Assessment Roll at the Open Book at the Town Hall, on Saturday, August 23, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. No objection forms were submitted to the Town Assessor.
The Town of Maine 2003 Board of Review convened at the Town Hall at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2003. Present were Board of Review members Vern Utecht, Chairman, Duane Grunenwald, Marty Zernicke, Marilyn Grunenwald, Betty Hoenisch, and the Town’s Assessor Jeremy Kurtzweil.
Chairman Utecht called meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
The assessor discussed farm, forest crop and recreational land values and also changes for next year from the Department of Revenue to address these land values. There was also discussion on the reassessment and the tax mill rate. Mr. Kurtzweil stated that there were many changes made per phone calls or residents coming to the Open Book with a current appraisal from a recent refinancing due to the low interest rates.
The Board reviewed the 2003 Assessment Roll, corrected any apparent errors, and added any omitted parcels. No property owners appeared to voice objection to the 2003 valuations, therefore the Board of Review accepts the Assessment Roll for 2003.
Assessor Jeremy Kurtzweil signed the 2003 Assessment Roll, which was attested by Clerk, Betty Hoenisch.
The Board of Review adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
Notices of these meetings were published in the Wausau Daily Herald on August 16, 2003 and posted at the Chapter Two Restaurant, Northside Citgo, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt Bar and the Maine Town Hall on April 12, 2003.
