Special Board of Supervisor Meeting
A Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors for the Town of Maine was held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 in the Town Hall, 6111 North 44th Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401.
Present were Chairperson Hoenisch, Supervisors Sue Shore and Tad Schult, Clerk Tammi Walter, and road contractors.
Chairperson Hoenisch called the meeting to order at 5:12 p.m.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the first item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the pulverize and asphalt bid for 2007. Chairperson Hoenisch explained that American Asphalt and RC Pavers were given a list of roads that the Town is considering for possible 2007 reconstruction. The Town will select the roads based on this list and budget amount. The Supervisors compared the bids based on the list below:
1. North 4th Ave. – Campus Dr. to 3M Gate
2. North 14th Ave. – Cassidy Dr. to Decator Dr.
3. North 60th – Decator Dr. to Falcon Dr.
4. North 60th - Hillcrest Dr. to County Road A
5. Rainbow Drive – Brandenburg Ave. to West
6. Brandenburg Ave. – From North Town Line to South
7. North 28th Ave. – Rainbow Dr. South to Cul-de-sac
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept American Asphalt’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the road base bid. The bids were:
1. Anderson Brothers and Johnson bid $6.68 a ton delivered or $4.75 if picked up at quarry by town workers.
2. Red Rock Granite Inc. bid $7.00 per ton.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Anderson Brothers and Johnson’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the crack sealing bid. The bids were:

1. Bergman Companies bid $1.13 per pound.
2. Fahrner Asphalt’s bid $1.24 per pound.
3. T.A.Z. Crackfilling, LLC bid $1.04 per pound.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Bergman Company’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the chip seal bid. The bids were:
1. Fahrner Asphalt bid $13,542.00 per mile.
2. Scott Construction’s bid $13,956.00 per mile.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Scott Construction’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve a double chip seal for surfacing of granite roads bid. The bids were:
1. Scott Construction’s bid $28,311.00 per mile.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Scott Construction’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the slag seal bid. The bids were:
1. Fahrner Asphalt bid $11,896.00 per mile.
2. Scott Construction’s bid $12,072.00 per mile.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Fahrner Asphalt Sealers bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the shouldering bid. The bids were:
1. Anderson Brothers and Johnson bid $11.23 a ton for Wisconsin D.O.T. spec material delivered watered, rolled, compacted, and swept.
2. Ron Christiansen Trucking bid $8.89 per ton for delivered, watered, rolled, compacted, and swept.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Anderson Brothers and Johnson’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.

Special Board of Supervisor Meeting
Chairperson Hoenisch explained that the next item of business was discussion and possible action to approve the granite bid. The bids were:
1. Red Rock Granite Inc. bid $5.90 per yard for entire township.
2. Ladick Materials Inc. bid $6.38 per yard for roads south of County Highway A and $6.82 per yard for roads north of County Highway A.
3. Meverden Materials Inc. bid $6.38 per yard.
Supervisor Schult made a motion to accept Red Rock Granite’s bid, seconded by Supervisor Shore. Motion carried.
Chair Hoenisch requested Matt Loekemoen from American Asphalt give the supervisors a detailed explanation of the bid for the proposed North 4th. Avenue reconstruction project. She explained that there would be a meeting with 3M, City of Wausau, and the Town of Maine Officials on Friday April, 27 2007 at 10:00 a.m. to discuss that project.
Motion by Supervisor Shore to adjourn at 6:30 p.m., seconded by Supervisor Schult. Motion carried.
