April 16, 2003
A Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors for the Town of Maine was held at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday April 16, 2003, in the Town Hall, 6111 North 44th Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401.
Agenda for this meeting was posted on April 11, 2003 at the Chapter Two Restaurant, Northside Citgo, Richard’s Supper Club, Schmidt’s Bar and the Town Hall.
Present were Chairman Utecht, Supervisors Duane Grunenwald and Marty Zernicke, Town Workers John Marquardt and Todd Bishop, Atty. Byll Hess and Clerk Betty Hoenisch.
Chairman Utecht called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m.
Chairman Utecht handed out forms that listed the roads that were in need of granite and resurfacing. Chairman Utecht also handed out road evaluation forms to be completed and discussed after the road surveys are completed. Chairman Utecht stated that he had received a letter from Kafka regarding Dust Buster Plus. There was discussion on Keller Drive, seal coating of granite roads and a keep right sign in the billy goat hills to protect the Town from a lawsuit. There was also much discussion on making ditches on Belaire Drive and a solution for the soft spot in the road.
John Marquardt recommended that a special meeting be held in a couple of days to put out road bids so the work could be started early. A special meeting was set up for April 21, 2003 at 7:00 a.m.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 a.m. for the road survey.
Meeting reconvened at 11:20 a.m.
Chairman Utecht explained that the first item of business was the discussion of a road improvement plan and the roads that are being considered for blacktopping are Belaire Drive – 4th Avenue east to Beecher Drive, Burlington Drive - Brentwood Road north to Belaire Drive, Brentwood Road - 4th Avenue east to Burlington Drive, Cassidy Drive – 4th Avenue east to Burek Avenue, 50 ft. on the south end of Bayshore Drive, one tenth of a mile on 18th Avenue, Hillcrest Drive – west of 28th Avenue one tenth of a mile, Hillcrest – 60th Avenue west to 72nd Avenue, 28th Avenue – Maine Drive south to Keller Drive, Maine Drive – 28th Avenue east to 20th Avenue, Sabre Drive – Hwy K west to bridge and Brandenburg Drive. There was also discussion on roads that will need patching, granite and possible ditch work.
There was discussion on widening 72nd Avenue since the Town of Berlin is redoing the portion of 72nd Avenue that is in their township. Atty. Hess explained that the Town would need to obtain 8 ft. of land on the east side of 72nd Avenue to widen that road and Mr. Grunenwald volunteered to contact the 72nd Avenue landowners. Atty. Hess will then do a quit claim deed for the Town.
Chairman Utecht stated that the next item of business was the hall cleaning and maintenance service
item. Chairman Utecht explained that with the number of rentals a part time maintenance person might be needed to mow grass, clean fixtures, fix small problem items etc. There was much discussion regarding the problems with the present cleaning service and the contract with "2 Clean does not specify times and dates. A decision was made to run a ad for a part time maintenance/cleaning service.
Chairman Utecht stated that the next item of business was the Resident Complaint form and he handed out folders with complaint forms to the supervisors. Chairman Utecht explained that he would like each complaint to be documented and also complete the resolution part of the form. Chairman Utecht would like to keep track of the complaints and problems and be sure that they are resolved.
Mr. Zernicke made a motion to adjourn at 12:05 p.m., seconded by Mr. Grunenwald. Motion carried.
